Specifying the Device Family & Device for Compilation



To specify the device family and device for compilation:

NOTE You can specify many of these Compiler settings with the Compiler Settings wizard.
  1. If you have not already done so, create a new project or open an existing project.

  2. Specify the current Compiler settings.

  3. Specify the design entity you want to compile.

  4. Choose Settings (Assignments menu).  Shortcut

  5. In the Category list, select Device under Compiler Settings.

  6. In the Family list, select the device family of the device you want to target for compilation.

  7. If you selected the ARM-Based Excalibur device family, specify routing paths for EPXA1, EPXA4, or EPXA10 dual-port RAM signals and EPXA4 or EPXA10 bridges, interrupts, and embedded processor core debug extensions.

  8. Under Target device, select Auto device selected by the Compiler from the 'Available devices' list or Specific device selected in 'Available devices' list.

  9. To specify which devices are listed in the Available Devices list, select the characteristics of the devices in the Package, Pin count, and Speed grade lists, and turn on or off Show Advanced Devices, under Show in 'Available devices' list.

  10. If you selected Specific device selected in 'Available devices' list under Target Device, specify a target device and options for the target device:

    1. In the Available devices list, select the device you want to target for compilation.

    2. If necessary, assign node names in the chip to pins in the device you selected.

  11. Specify general device options for the selected device.

  12. Specify the configuration scheme for the device and the options available with that scheme.

  13. Specify that the Compiler generate optional programming files.

  14. Reserve all unused pins on the device for a specific use.

  15. Specify the I/O standard for the device.

  16. If you selected the ACEX® 1K, APEX II, APEX 20K, FLEX 10KE, MAX® 3000, MAX 7000, or Stratix device family, selected Specific device selected in 'Available devices' list under Target Device, and selected a device in the Available devices list, specify migration devices for the device.

  17. Click OK.
