Setting the Compilation Focus



To set a design entity as the compilation focus using the General page in the Settings dialog box (Assignments menu):

  1. If you have not already done so, create a new project or open an existing project.

  2. Specify the current Compiler settings.

  3. Choose Settings (Assignments menu).  Shortcut

  4. In the Category list, select General under Compiler Settings.

  5. In the Compilation focus box, type the hierarchical path name of the design entity you want to compile or select the design entity in the Select Hierarchy dialog box by clicking Browse (...).

  6. Click OK.

 

To set the current design entity as the compilation focus using an open design file:

  1. If you have not already done so, create a new project or open an existing project.

  2. Specify the current Compiler settings.

  3. Open the design file for the design entity you want to set as the compilation focus.

  4. Choose Set Compiler Focus to Current Entity (Project menu).  Shortcut

Alternative Procedure for Setting the Compilation Focus

 

To copy a lower-level design entity to the top level and set it as the compilation focus:

  1. If you have not already done so, create a new project or open an existing project.

  2. Specify the current Compiler settings.

  3. Open the design file for the design entity you want to specify as a top-level entity and set as the compilation focus.

  4. Choose Add Current Entity at Top Level (Project menu).  Shortcut
