Specifying Devices for Device Migration



To specify migration devices for an ACEX® 1K, APEX II, APEX 20K, FLEX 10KE, MAX® 3000, MAX 7000, or Stratix device:

  1. If you have not already done so, create a new project or open an existing project.

  2. If you have not already done so, specify the current Compiler settings.

  3. If you have not already done so, specify the design entity you want to compile.

  4. Choose Settings (Assignments menu).  Shortcut

  5. In the Category list, select Device under Compiler Settings.

  6. Specify an ACEX 1K, APEX II, APEX 20K, FLEX 10KE, MAX 3000, MAX 7000, or Stratix device for compilation.  Read This First

  7. Click Migration Devices.

  8. To direct the Quartus® II software to display all compatible migration devices for the target device in the Compatible migration devices list, regardless of a migration device's speed grade, turn on Show All Speed Grades.

  9. Specify the devices you want to use as migration devices by moving the device names from the Compatible migration devices list to the Selected migration devices list.

    1. To move all the devices from the Compatible migration devices list to the Selected migration devices list, click >>.

    2. To move one or more individual device(s) from the Compatible migration devices list to the Selected migration devices list, select the device name(s) and click >.

  10. If necessary, specify the devices you do not want to use as migration devices by moving the device names from the Selected migration devices list to the Compatible migration devices list.

    1. To move all the devices from the Selected migration devices list to the Compatible migration devices list, click <<

    2. To move one or more individual device(s) from the Selected migration devices list to the Compatible migration devices list, select the device name(s) and click <.

  11. If you want to generate a Pin-Out File (.pin) and floorplan package views that contain information for the largest SameFrame device listed in the Selected migration devices list, rather than for the design's target device, turn on Base the Pin-Out File (.pin) and floorplan package views on the largest selected SameFrame device.

  12. Click OK.
