Assigning SignalProbe Pins



To add, change, or remove SignalProbe output pin assignments in the current device:  Read This First

  1. If you have not already done so, create a new project or open an existing project.

  2. If you have not already done so, specify the current Compiler settings.

  3. If you have not already done so, specify the design entity you want to compile.

  4. Choose Settings (Assignments menu).  Shortcut

  5. In the Category list, select Device under Compiler Settings.

  6. Under Target Device, select Specific device selected in the 'Available devices' list.

  7. To specify the devices in the selected family from which you want to select a specific device, under Show in 'Available devices' list, select the settings in the Package, Pin count, and Speed grade lists.

  8. If you want to select from devices that will be released in the near future, turn on Show Advance Devices.

  9. Select the target device in the Available devices list.

  10. Click Assign Pins.  Shortcut

  11. In the Assign Pins dialog box, to display only the pins that you can use as SignalProbe output pins in the Available pins & existing assignments list, turn on Show current and potential SignalProbe pins.

  12. In the Available pins & existing assignments list, select the pin number for the pin to which you want to add, change, or delete a SignalProbe node name assignment.

  13. To delete the SignalProbe node name assignment from the pin, under Assignment, click Delete.

  14. To add a new SignalProbe node name assignment to the pin, or change the existing SignalProbe node name assignment name for the pin, under Assignment, type a new name for the SignalProbe node assignment in the Pin name box.

    or

    Copy the SignalProbe node name assignment name to the Assign Pins dialog box with the Node Finder.

  15. If you added or changed the SignalProbe node name assignment and you want to reserve the pin for SignalProbe use, under Assignment, turn on Reserve pin (even if it does not exist in the design file), and select As SignalProbe output pin from the list.

  16. To save a new SignalProbe node name assignment and add the assignment to the Available pins & existing assignments list, under Assignment, click Add.

  17. To save the changed SignalProbe node name assignment and add the assignment to the Available pins & existing assignments list, under Assignment, click Change.

  18. Repeat steps 12 to 17 for each additional SignalProbe node name assignment you want to add, change, or delete.

  19. Click OK.
