Generating Passive Programming Files



To generate passive programming files for an ARM®-based Excalibur device:  Read This First

NOTE You can also specify these software build settings with the Software Build Settings wizard.
  1. Create a new project or open an existing project.

  2. If you have not already done so, run the ARM-based Excalibur MegaWizard® Plug-In, which is available from the MegaWizard Plug-In Manager (Tools menu), to generate a System Build Descriptor File (.sbd) that contains Excalibur embedded processor stripe information for the ARM-based Excalibur device you are targeting.

  3. If you have not already done so, generate a programmable logic Partial SRAM Object File (.psof) that contains the configuration data for the programmable logic device (PLD) portion of the ARM-based Excalibur device.

  4. If you have not already done so, specify the directory for the ADS Standard Tools or GNUPro for ARM® software toolset.

  5. Specify software build settings.

  6. Choose Settings (Assignments menu). Shortcut

  7. In the Category list, select CPU under Software Build Settings.

  8. In the Embedded processor architecture list, select ARM922T as the embedded processor core.

  9. In the Software toolset list, specify ADS Standard Tools or GNUPro for ARM.

  10. In the Byte order list, select Little endian or Big endian.

  11. In the Output file format list, select Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) File (.hex) to specify that the Software Builder generate a Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) File (.hex) that contains stripe memory initialization data for the ARM-based Excalibur device.

  12. In the Output file name box, type the directory and file name for the output HEX File that the Software Builder is generating, or select a file name with Browse (...).

  13. Under Programming file generation, select Passive configuration.

  14. In the Passive configuration box, type the name of the PSOF that contains PLD configuration data for the ARM-based Excalibur device, or select the PSOF with Browse (...).

  15. Click OK.

  16. If you want to purge intermediate files that the Software Builder generated for the current software build settings during the previous software build, choose Purge Intermediate Software Files (Processing menu).
