Software build settings are a group of settings used by the Software Builder that specify the type of programming files you want to generate for an ARM®-based Excalibur device, the type of files you want to generate for an ARM-based Excalibur device or Nios® embedded processor, the software toolset you want the Software Builder to use, any command-line commands you want to run, and options for the software toolset.
When you create a new project, the Quartus® II software creates two default software build settings called Debug and Release, and uses the Debug software build settings as the current Compiler settings. You can also specify and save your own customized software build settings for a project using the Settings dialog box (Assignments menu), as described in the following topics:
To create new groups of software build settings, refer to Creating New Software Build Settings.
To delete one or more groups of software build settings from the project, refer to Deleting Software Build Settings.
To specify the current software build settings you want to use to perform a software build, refer to Specifying the Current Software Build Settings.
