5. Generate EDIF Netlist Files with the LeonardoSpectrum Software

To generate EDIF netlist files in the Mentor Graphics® LeonardoSpectrum software for use with the Quartus® II software:

  1. If you have not already done so, perform 4. Assign Design Constraints with the LeonardoSpectrum Software.

  2. Click the Output tab.

  3. Type the appropriate path and file name for the output file in the Filename box or click Browse to select it.

  4. If necessary, select other appropriate output settings.

  5. Click Run Flow.

  6. In the Quartus II software, specify project EDA tool settings and make sure that, in the EDA Tool Settings page of the Settings dialog box (Assignments menu), you select the Leonardo Spectrum or Leonardo Spectrum (Level 1) design entry tool and in the Design Entry/Synthesis Tool list, and make sure that you have turned on Generate a compilable netlist automatically from the source files when they change.

    NOTE
    1. Select Leonardo Spectrum (Level 1) from the EDA Tool Settings page of the Settings dialog box (Assignments menu) if you are using the LeonardoSpectrum software from the Altera-provided CD with your Quartus II software package. If you are using another version of the LeonardoSpectrum software, select Leonardo Spectrum.

    2. If you are performing timing closure with the LeonardoSpectrum and Quartus II software, turn on Generate back-annotation data for timing closure in the EDA Tool Input Settings dialog box. The Quartus II software generates a <design name>.vqo (a Verilog Quartus® Mapping File (.vqm) with a .vqo extension) and a Standard Delay Format Output File (.sdo) and places them in the \<project name>\resynthesis\mentor directory.

  7. Compile the design in the Quartus II software.

  8. To continue with the LeonardoSpectrum design flow, proceed to 6. Analyze and Optimize Design Results with the LeonardoSpectrum Software.
