6. Analyze and Optimize Design Results with the LeonardoSpectrum Software

To use the Mentor Graphics® LeonardoSpectrum software to optimize your design and generate a report for area and timing optimization:

  1. If you have not already done so, perform 5. Generate EDIF Netlist Files with the LeonardoSpectrum Software.

  2. To optimize the design:

    1. Click the Optimize tab.

    2. In the Optimize tab, specify the appropriate options.  Read This First  More Details

    3. NOTE

In the Optimize tab, you can also specify to preserve or flatten the hierarchy in the output netlist, well as adding I/O pads to the design.

    4. Click Apply.

  3. To generate a report on the results of area and timing optimizations with the Mentor Graphics LeonardoSpectrum non-OEM software:

    1. Click the Report tab.

    2. To generate a report on the area optimization results, at the bottom of the Report tab, click the Report Area tab.

    3. To generate a report on the timing optimization results, at the bottom of the Report tab, click the Report Delay tab.

    4. If necessary, in the appropriate tab (either Report Area or Report Delay), specify the appropriate settings for your report.

    5. Click Write.

  4. To continue with the LeonardoSpectrum design flow, return to 5. Generate EDIF Netlist Files with the LeonardoSpectrum Software.

  5. If you are performing timing closure, return to 3. Set Up a Project with the LeonardoSpectrum Software to read in the <design name>.vqo and Standard Delay Format Output File (.sdo), generated by the Quartus® II software during compilation.
