EPC1 Configuration Devices

The EPC1 configuration device is a serial memory device that stores configuration data for SRAM-based Altera® ACEX® 1K, FLEX® 6000, and FLEX 10KE family devices. In SRAM-based devices, the configuration data must be reloaded whenever the system initializes, or whenever you want new configuration data. With a capacity of 1,022 Kbits of data, a single EPC1 device can configure one or more ACEX 1K, FLEX 6000, or FLEX 10KE devices in a PS configuration scheme.

The Quartus® II software can generate Programmer Object Files (.pof) that can be used to program configuration devices, such as EPC1 devices. The Quartus II software can combine the SRAM Object Files (.sof) for multiple ACEX 1K, FLEX 6000, or FLEX 10KE devices into one or more EPC1 devices.

NOTE

Preliminary support for new device packages may be available for this device. Pin-outs for devices with preliminary support are subject to change. For information on preliminary device support, refer to Quartus II Software Release Notes, available on the Altera web site.

The EPC1 configuration devices are available in plastic one-time-programmable 8-pin DIP and 20-pin J-lead packages. For complete information on the EPC1 device, refer to the current Configuration Devices for SRAM-Based LUT Devices Data Sheet, which is available from the Literature section of the Altera web site.
