To assign an entity or node to a custom region:

1. If you have not already done so, open an existing project.

2. Choose Settings (Assignments menu).  Shortcut

3. In the Category list, select Device under Compiler Settings.

4. Select a specific target device from the ACEX^® 1K, APEX^™ 20K, APEX^™ II, ARM^®-based Excalibur^™, Cyclone^™, FLEX 10KE, Mercury^™, Stratix^™, or Stratix^™ GX device families.

5. Open the Current Assignments floorplan.

6. Click the Create New Custom Region button on the toolbar.  

7. In the Floorplan Editor, click any empty space to define the starting point of a rectangular region and drag the pointer until the region is the desired size.  More Details

8. Select the entity in the Compilation Hierarchies folder on the Hierarchies tab of the Project Navigator.

   or

   Find the node name in the Node Finder and select it.

9. Drag the selected entity or node onto the square in the top left corner of the custom region.
