Setting Up Output Programming Files



To set up output programming files:

  1. Choose Convert Programming Files (File menu).

  2. If you want to edit an existing Conversion Setup File (.cof) or Chain Description File (.cdf), or create a new programming file from an existing Conversion Setup File or CDF, under Conversion setup files, click Open/Import Conversion Setup Data to open a Conversion Setup File or import a CDF.

  3. Under Output programming file, select the format of the programming file you want to create in the Programming file type list.

  4. If you selected Programmer Object File (.pof) in the Programming file type list, and you want to change the target configuration device, select the target configuration device for the Programmer Object File (.pof) in the Configuration device list.

  5. If you want to change the configuration scheme used by the programming file, in the Mode list select a configuration mode that is compatible with the configuration memory space of the specified programming file.

  6. If you selected Programmer Object File (.pof) or Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) Output File for SRAM (.hexout) in the Programming file type list, and you want to specify programming file options for the specified programming file and configuration device, use one of the following procedures:

  7. In the File name box, type the file name for the programming file you want to create, or select the file name with Browse (...).

  8. To generate a remote update difference file or a local update difference file for a POF for Remote Update or a POF for Local Update, select the type of remote update difference file or local update difference file in the Remote/Local update difference file list.

  9. To generate a Memory Map File (.map) for a POF for an EPC4, EPC8, or EPC16 configuration device, turn on Memory Map File.

  10. To add an SRAM Object File (.sof) to a SOF Data item, or a Programmer Object File (pof) to a POF Data item, perform the following steps:  Read This First

    1. In the Input files to convert list, Select the SOF Data item or POF Data item to which you want to add a SOF or POF and click Add File.

    2. In the Select Input File dialog box, select an existing file in the Files list or type a file name in the File name box.

    3. Click Open.

  11. To add a Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) File (.hex) to a Bottom Boot Data or Main Block Data item for a POF for an EPC4, EPC8, or EPC16 configuration device, perform the following steps:

    1. In the Input Files to convert list, select the Bottom Boot Data or Main Block Data item to which you want to add a HEX File to and click Add File.

    2. In the Select Input File dialog box, select an existing file in the Files list or type a file name in the File name box.

    3. Click Open.

  12. To remove a POF, SOF, or HEX File from the Input files to convert list, select the the name of the POF, SOF, or HEX file you want to remove and click Remove.

  13. To move a SOF up or down within a chain of SOFs in the Input files to convert list, select the name of the SOF you want to move and click Up to move the file up, or click Down to move the file down.

  14. To set up a POF for an EPC4, EPC8, or EPC16 configuration device if you selected Programmer Object File from the Programming file type list and EPC4, EPC8, or EPC16 from the Configuration device list, perform the following steps:

    1. To add a SOF Data item to the Input files to convert list, click Add Data to add a SOF Data item.

    2. To remove a SOF Data item from the Input files to convert list, select the SOF Data item you want to remove and click Remove.

    3. Specify SOF Data item properties in the Input files to convert list.

    4. Specify the properties of HEX Files in the Input files to convert list.

  15. To set up a POF for Remote Update or a POF for Local Update if you selected Programmer Object File for Remote Update (.pof) or Programmer Object File for Local Update (.pof) from the Programming file type list, perform the following steps:  Read This First

    1. To add a SOF Data item to the Input files to convert list of a POF for Remote Update, click Add Data to add a SOF Data item.

    2. To remove a SOF Data item from the Input files to convert list of a POF for Remote Update, select the SOF Data item you want to remove and click Remove.

    3. Specify SOF Data item properties in the Input files to convert list.

  16. To save the current state of the Input files to convert list and the output programming file settings in a Conversion Setup File, click Save Conversion Setup.

  17. Click OK.
