Adding or Replacing a Device in a JTAG Chain



To add a device to a JTAG chain, for bypassing, programming, verifying, or blank-checking the device:  Read This First

  1. If you have not already done so, open the Chain Description File (.cdf) you want to edit.

  2. If you want to automatically add devices in a device chain to the Device list, click Auto Detect.

  3. Right-click anywhere in the programming list, and choose Add Device (right button pop-up menu).  Shortcut

  4. If you want to define a user-defined device, click New.

  5. In the Select Device dialog box, select a device family in the Device family list.  More Details

  6. Turn on a device name in the Device name list.

  7. To add additional devices, repeat steps 5-6.  More Details

  8. Click OK.

 

To replace a device in a JTAG chain:

  1. If you have not already done so, open the Chain Description File (.cdf) you want to edit.

  2. If you want to automatically replace all the devices in the Device list with devices in a device chain, click Auto Detect.

  3. In the Device list, right-click the device you want to replace, and choose Change Device (right button pop-up menu).  Shortcut

  4. If you want to define a user-defined device, click New.

  5. In the Select New Device dialog box, select a device family from the Device Family list.

  6. Turn on a device name in the Device Name list.  Read This First

  7. Click OK.

  8. To replace additional devices, repeat steps 3-7.  More Details
