You can add devices only while using JTAG mode or In-Socket Programming mode. You can add only a configuration device, MAX® 3000 device, or MAX 7000 device while using In-Socket Programming Mode. In Passive Serial mode, the Add Device button in the Programmer window and the Add Device command (right button pop-up menu) are dimmed to indicate that they are not available.
