Defining or Editing User-Defined Devices



To define a user-defined device:

  1. If you have not already done so, open the Chain Description File (.cdf) you want to edit.

  2. If you have not already done so, right-click anywhere in the programming list in the Programmer window, and choose Add Device (right button pop-up menu).  Shortcut

  3. If you have not already done so, click New.

  4. In the New Device dialog box, under Device, type the name of the user-defined device in the Name box.

  5. Under Instruction register, type the length of the instruction register for the user-defined device.

  6. Click Add JTAG ID to add a JTAG ID to the JTAG ID list, and perform the following steps:

    1. In the Configuration device JTAG ID (32-bit hexadecimal) box, type a configuration device JTAG ID for the user-defined device.

    2. In the Configuration device JTAG ID mask (32-bit hexadecimal) box, type a configuration device JTAG ID mask for the user-defined device.

    3. Click OK.

  7. If you want to remove a JTAG ID from the JTAG ID list, select the JTAG ID and click Remove.

  8. If there are versions of this device that do not have JTAG IDs, turn on Allow none to identify them as belonging to this device.

  9. Click OK.

 

To edit a user-defined device:

  1. If you have not already done so, open the Chain Description File (.cdf) you want to edit.

  2. If you have not already done so, right-click anywhere in the programming list in the Programmer window, and choose Add Device (right button pop-up menu).  Shortcut

  3. If you have not already done so, click Edit.

  4. If you want, in the Edit Device dialog box, under Device, edit the name of the user-defined device in the Name box.

  5. Under Instruction register, edit the length of the instruction register for the user-defined device, in the Length box.

  6. If you want to add a JTAG ID to the JTAG ID list, click Add JTAG ID and perform the following steps:

    1. In the Configuration device JTAG ID (32-bit hexadecimal) box, type the configuration device JTAG ID for the user-defined device.

    2. In the Configuration device JTAG ID mask (32-bit hexadecimal) box, type the configuration device JTAG ID mask for the user-defined device.

    3. Click OK.

  7. If you want to remove a JTAG ID from the JTAG ID list, select the JTAG ID and click Remove.

  8. If there are versions of this device that do not have JTAG IDs, turn on Allow none to identify them as belonging to this device.

  9. Click OK.
