Overview: Setting Quartus II Options

When working with the Quartus® II software, you can specify options to customize your work environment. For example, you can create and customize toolbars, and show and hide toolbars as well as the status bar. You can also specify that the current project and files should reopen at startup, check the Altera® web site for updates at startup, show recently used files and projects on submenus, show introductory pages in wizards, and display information or warning messages during compilation, simulation, or software build. In addition, you can specify that the Quartus II software confirm certain actions you want performed, such as adding files to a project, or stopping a compilation, simulation, or software build of a design. Finally, you can reset the default settings for the entire desktop.

Creating and Customizing Toolbars

You can create new toolbars using the Toolbars command (Tools menu). You can add buttons to new toolbars or existing toolbars by dragging and dropping. You can also delete buttons from toolbars using the same drag-and-drop method. Finally, you can change the appearance of toolbars, by increasing the size of the buttons, adding or removing the borders (that is, the three-dimensional look) of the buttons, or adding or removing tooltips, which show information about the function of a particular button when you point to it.
