Assignments

Stored in assignments for

Shows, for each different type of assignment, where the assignment is stored, for example, Entity Settings File (.esf), Compiler Settings File (.csf), Simulator Settings File (.ssf), or Project Settings File (.psf).

When the settings are stored in a CSF, SSF, or PSF, Stored in assignments for displays the following text:

Compiler settings '<settings name>' (in <settings name>.csf)

Simulator settings '<settings name>' (in <settings name>.ssf)

Project settings '<settings name>' (in <settings name>.psf)

When the assignment is stored in an ESF, Stored in assignments for contains the following options:

Option Description
This instance only Makes an assignment to the current primitive or entity instance that is stored in the ESF of the top-level design entity. Other instances of the primitive or entity in the design are not affected.
This instance in all occurrences of its parent entity Makes an assignment to the current entity or primitive instance that is stored in the ESF of its parent entity. Every instance of the parent entity will then contain this assignment to the lower-level entity or primitive instance within it. However, other instances of the lower-level entity or primitive within the same parent entity are not affected.
All instances of this entity (n\a for individual nodes) Makes an assignment to all instances of the entity that is stored in the ESF for that entity. This option is not available for primitives, which do not have their own ESFs; if you make an assignment to a primitive with this option, the assignment will be ignored during compilation.
Other Allows you to select the ESF of a different instance, other than the top-level design entity or the parent entity of the current primitive or entity, to store the assignment. Click Customize, which opens the Select Hierarchy dialog box, to select the entity whose ESF you want to use to store the assignment.
