To use the Quartus^® II software with the Synopsys^® FPGA Compiler II software, you must first install the Quartus II software, then establish an environment that facilitates entering and processing designs. To set up the FPGA Compiler II software working environment:

1. Make sure you have installed the following versions of the Quartus II software and the FPGA Compiler II software:

Synopsys	Altera®
FPGA Compiler II version 3.7	Quartus II version 2.2




This version of the FPGA Compiler II software supports all Altera devices supported by the Quartus II software.

The Quartus II Software Release Notes are available on the Altera web site and provide up-to-date information on which versions of Synopsys applications are supported by the current version of the Quartus II software. The Quartus II readme.txt file provides information on installation and operating requirements. You should read the Release Notes and readme.txt file before installing the Quartus II software. After installation, you can open the Release Notes and readme.txt file from the Quartus II Help menu. Go to the FPGA Compiler II release notes for information on installing the FPGA Compiler II software and for descriptions of the latest changes to the software. These notes are available in the readme.htm file on the FPGA Compiler II installation CD-ROM.

2. To continue with the FPGA Compiler II design flow, proceed to 2. Create a Design for Use with the FPGA Compiler II Software.
