Using an External Text Editor to Locate the Source of a Message



To use an external text editor to locate the source of a message:

  1. Choose Options (Tools menu).  Read This First

  2. In the Category list, select Text Editor General.

  3. Under Preferred text editor, select Other text editor path name and type the directory path and name of the external text editor application you want to use in the Other text editor path name box or select the external text editor application with Browse (...).

  4. Under Preferred text editor, turn on Use this editor to locate messages in text files.

  5. Under Preferred text editor, type the file name and the line number command-line commands that specifically apply to the external editor you want to use in the Command-line options box.  Example
