Guidelines for Finding a Matching Delimiter or Using Syntax Coloring

The types of delimiters you can find and syntax coloring you can use depend on the extension of the current file, that is, you must save a recognized Quartus^® II text file with the correct extension. You can find matching delimiters and use syntax coloring with the following file types and extensions:

EDIF Input File (.edf)
AHDL Include File (.inc)
Text Design File (.tdf)

Verilog Design File (.v)
Verilog Output File (.vo)
VHDL Design File (.vhd)
VHDL Output File (.vho)

Tcl Script File (.tcl) (syntax coloring only)

In addition, the Text Editor supports C and C++ syntax coloring in Software mode.

The Text Editor does not display syntax coloring or find most matching delimiters in unsaved files. However, you can find commonly-used delimiters, such as brackets ({}) and parentheses (()), in all text files.
