Searches from the insertion point in the direction specified in the Search list for specified text in the current file and replaces it with the text in the Replace with box. If multiple lines of text are selected, each time you choose Replace, the command replaces each subsequent occurrence of the search text within that selection.

In the Text Editor, however, if multiple lines of text are selected, each time you choose Replace, the command begins its search and replace in the selected text and continues to the beginning or end of the file, depending on whether you specify Up or Down in the Search list.
