Click the hollow-lined Orthogonal Conduit Tool button on the toolbar to draw conduits. Click the thick-lined Orthogonal Bus Tool button on the toolbar to draw buses in the thick line style, or click the thin-lined Orthogonal Node Tool button on the toolbar to draw nodes in the thin line style. Click the Selection and Smart Drawing Tool button to draw conduits, nodes, or buses.
When you draw a connector to a block, you must draw the connector to the edge of the block, in the exact location. The connectors do not snap to the block automatically. For reference, the Status bar displays the X, Y coordinators that indicate the cursor position.
Dragging the mouse in a diagonal direction with the Orthogonal Node Tool, the Orthogonal Bus Tool, the Selection and Smart Drawing Tool, or the Orthogonal Conduit Tool draws a horizontal line and a vertical line that meet at a right angle.
If a line starts or ends in a T intersection with another line, a connection dot is entered automatically. However, if two node or bus lines cross over each other, that does not necessarily constitute a logical connection.
When you use the Selection and Smart Drawing Tool to connect objects in a Block Design File (.bdf), the correct connector appears automatically. For example, when you connect the following objects, the Block Editor inserts the appropriate connector:
Objects connected | Connector type |
---|---|
block and pin | conduit |
block and symbol | node or bus |
block and block | conduit |
pin and symbol | node or bus |
symbol and symbol | node or bus |
