Software

Optimization

Specifies the following optimization level and goal settings for the Software Builder to use while optimizing C/C++ code during a software build:

Option Description

Level

Specifies the level of code efficiency. A higher level setting indicates more efficient code. However, because the Software Builder removes symbols from the code to make the code more efficient, a higher level setting may make the code more difficult to read or debug.

Goal

Specifies whether you want to maximize the speed of the application and increase the size of the code, or minimize the code size and reduce the speed of the application.

The options and settings available under Optimization depend on the embedded processor core and software toolset you are using for the software build. If you select Custom build in the Software toolset list in the CPU page of the Settings dialog box (Assignments menu), this option is dimmed to indicate that it is not available.
