To reserve a pin:

1. If you have not already done so, create a new project or open an existing project.

2. Open the Assignment Organizer dialog box dialog box (Tools menu).

3. Click the By Node tab.

4. Under Mode, select Enter specific entity & node settings for.

5. If necessary, copy an entity or node name to the Name box with the Node Finder dialog box.

6. If necessary, turn on Show assignments inherited from higher hierarchical levels & project defaults.

7. Under Assignment Categories click the + icon next to Locations.

8. Click Pin (organized by device package), Pin (organized by internal rows/columns), or Pin (organized by pin name).

9. Under Assignment, specify the pin location information in the lists.

10. Turn on Reserve pin and select As input tri-stated, As output driving ground, As output driving an unspecified signal, or As VREF from the list.  More Details

11. Click Add.

12. Click OK or Apply.
