When you choose Increase Indent or Decrease Indent (Edit menu), the indent of the line increases or decreases by one tab stop.
If you select text and choose Increase Indent or Decrease Indent, the line containing the text changes its indent and the text remains selected.
If you place an insertion point to the left of the first character in a line, you can also indent text by pressing the Tab and Backspace keys.
You can also use the automatic indenting feature to indent new lines of text as you enter them. This automatic function allows you to align text as you type new lines without pressing Tab or Space, or choosing the Increase Indent command to move the insertion point to the appropriate column number.
