Report Window

Messages Section (Compilation or Simulation Report)

Lists all the messages generated for a compilation or simulation.

When you compile or simulate a design, the messages in the Report window are identical to those in the Processing tab of the Messages window. As with the Messages window, you can copy, get help on, and locate the source of messages in the Report window. In contrast to the Messages window, where the messages are overwritten with every new compilation or simulation, the Report window saves the messages for the specific settings until you perform another compilation or simulation using the same settings.

If you perform subsequent compilations or simulations using other settings, you can still access the messages generated during previous compilations or simulations by using the Report window.

When you close the Quartus® II software, the Report window saves the generated messages. In contrast, the Messages window erases those messages.

Message severity level is indicated by the icon preceding a message. For example, a red circle with an X indicates an error message. If you do not want to view warning and information messages, you can turn off the display of these messages in the Processing Options tab (Options command).
