Glossary

back-annotation

The process of copying device and resource assignments made by the Compiler and stored in the compilation database, into the Compiler Settings File (.csf). The back-annotation process preserves the current fit in future compilations.

Back-annotation can be performed on an entire design or on a LogicLock region. LogicLock back-annotation is copied into the Entity Settings File (.esf) for the top-level entity in the current compilation hierarchy.
