To delete text with commands:  Read This First

1. Select the text you want to delete.

2. If you want to delete the selected text and place it on the Clipboard, choose Cut (Edit menu).  Shortcut

3. If you want to delete the selected text from the file without placing it on the Clipboard, choose Delete (Edit menu).  Shortcut

To delete a block of text with the keyboard:  Read This First

1. Select the text you want to delete.

2. Press Delete.

To delete text one character at a time:  Read This First

1. Place the insertion point to the left or right of the character(s) you want to delete.

2. To delete the character to the left of the insertion point, press Backspace.

3. To delete the character to the right of the insertion point, press Delete.
