Selecting Text



You can select text with the mouse in the following ways.


To select text—in dialog boxes, Report window sections, the Block or Symbol Editor, the Text Editor, and the Waveform Editor—using the mouse:

Perform one of the following actions:

 

Mouse/Action Result
Click and Hold, Drag, Release Selects text from the point where you click the mouse, that is, the insertion point, to the point where you release the mouse.
Click, Move, Shift+Click Selects text from the point where you first click the mouse to the point where you last click the mouse.
Double-Click Selects the entire word on which you position the pointer.
Double-Click+Drag, Release Selects text by word boundaries from the point where you double-click to the point where you release the button.

 

To select an entire line in the Text Editor:

  1. Move the pointer to the left margin of your text file in the Text Editor until the pointer changes to a right-pointing arrow.

  2. To select a line of text, click next to the line.

 

To select multiple lines in the Text Editor:

  1. Repeat step 1 above.

  2. Select the first or last line you want to select, then drag the pointer up or down until you have selected all the lines.

 

To select a column of text in the Text Editor:

  1. Press and hold the Alt key.

  2. Select just before the character at the left corner of the column of text to be selected, then drag the pointer up or down until the column is highlighted.  More Details

 

To select a pin name or comment in the Waveform Editor for editing purposes:

  1. Click the Text Tool button on the toolbar.  Text tool

  2. Double-click the pin name or comment.  More Details
