Performing analysis and elaboration or compilation on a project before archiving it enables the Quartus^® II software to automatically locate the design, source, and ancillary files associated with the project. If you choose to archive a project without performing analysis and elaboration or compilation, the Quartus II software may not be able to locate design, source, and ancillary files that are not located in the current project directory. As a result, you may need to add files not located in the project directory to the Quartus II Archive File (.qar).
