by Gerard M Blair

The following are a selection of papers which derive from my experience in teaching managment skills to undergraduate engineers.

  1. The Need for Project Management Skills in Newly Graduated Electrical Engineers (Project, June 1991) .
  2. Laying the foundations for effective team work. (IEE Eng Sci&Edu Journal Feb 1993)
  3. Delegating Training. (Training Officer 1994)
  4. Professional Skills for First-Year Engineering Students. (IEE Eng Sci&Edu Journal Feb 1995)
  5. Writing Skills for Large Classes (figures missing). (Higher Education July 1995)

If you prefer journal copies then the full references can be found in the Publication Lists.

Much of the material used in my teaching of management skills has been published in a series of Management Skills Briefs within the IEE Engineering Management Journal.

An expanded version, specifically for new managers, has been published as a book by Chartwell-Bratt (UK) and republished by the IEEE Press (USA) as part of their Engineers Guide to Business series.

The results of a student group-development exercise can be seen in the student-compiled resource pages on the LEARNING ORGANIZATION and GROUP FACILITATION which are found here; and on LEADERSHIP, here.
