For designs with timing requirements or complex timing assignments, the Timing Analyzer reports whether timing requirements are met, as well as the difference between the specified time requirement and the signal's actual arrival time. In the Quartus^® II software, this difference is referred to as the slack value. The slack value is negative if the requirement is not achieved during timing analysis. The slack value is positive if the requirement is achieved during timing analysis.
