Simulation runs as a background process so you can locate the sources of any error, information, or warning messages displayed in the Messages window. You can also edit files in a Quartus^® II application while the Simulator is running.

During simulation, the output logic levels in the output waveform are updated automatically. You can open the output waveform from the Report window. However, you cannot edit the output waveform while simulation is in progress.
