Raw Binary File (.rbf)

A binary file (with the extension .rbf) containing configuration data for use outside the Quartus II software. An RBF contains the binary equivalent of a Tabular Text File (.ttf).

You can use the Programming Files tab of the Device & Pin Options dialog box, which is available from the Device page of the Settings dialog box (Assignments menu), to direct the Compiler to generate RBFs containing configuration data for the sequential Passive Parallel Synchronous (PPS), Passive Parallel Asynchronous (PPA), and Passive Serial (PS) configuration schemes for ACEX 1K, APEX 20K, APEX II, ARM-based Excalibur, FLEX 10KE, Mercury, Stratix, and Stratix GX devices. You also can generate RBFs containing configuration data for the PS and Passive Serial Asynchronous (PSA) configuration schemes for FLEX 6000 devices; for the Fast Passive Parallel (FPP) configuration scheme for APEX II, Stratix, and Stratix GX devices; and for the PS configuration scheme for Cyclone devices. The file name of the RBF the Compiler generates is the same as the name of the current Compiler settings

You can also generate RBFs with the makeprogfile utility, or from previously generated SRAM Object Files (.sof) with the Convert Programming Files command (File menu).

When configuring a device in PS configuration scheme, send each byte of data with the LSB first.
