High-Speed Differential Interface (HSDI)

A feature available on Mercury devices that uses differential I/O standards and Clock Data Recovery (CDR) to send data serially at a faster rate between devices. The High-Speed Differential Interface (HSDI) is an embedded circuit dedicated to receiving and transmitting high-speed serial data streams between the Mercury device and other devices on a circuit board or across a backplane.

Dedicated CDR circuitry enables Mercury devices to eliminate frequency barriers faced by source-synchronous systems, allowing for data transmission at speeds in excess of 1 Gbps while correcting for clock skew.

HSDI and CDR are commonly used in short-distance communication systems. You can take advantage of HSDI and CDR with the altcdr_rx and altcdr_tx megafunctions.
