HardCopy^™ devices represent a new migration path for high-density, high-volume applications. Manufactured with the same process technology as their APEX^™ 20K, and APEX^™ II counterparts, HardCopy devices are an exact reproduction of the programmable logic device (PLD) with the programmability removed and the customer-specific configuration and routing implemented with metal interconnect. The result is a much smaller and more cost-effective device.

HardCopy devices support migration for the high-density APEX 20K and APEX II devices and the Nios^® embedded processor solutions, as well as Altera^® and AMPP^SM partner intellectual property (IP) megafunctions. Through a combination of proprietary silicon design and an automated conversion process, you can move from a programmable solution to a low-cost, custom implementation of designs with the benefits of a shorter development time than is needed with ASICs.
