Current Strength logic option

A logic option that sets the drive strength of a pin. Specific numerical strength settings are appropriate only for pins with 1.5-V, 1.8-V, or 2.5-V, LVCMOS, or LVTTL I/O standards.

The following drive strengths are appropriate:

NOTE The default strength setting for Stratix and Stratix GX side I/Os is 12 mA.

I/O Standard Default Drive Strength
1.5-V APEX II: 2 mA
Cyclone: 8 mA
Mercury: Maximum Strength
Stratix and Stratix GX: 8 mA
1.8-V APEX II: 8 mA
Cyclone: 12 mA
Mercury: Maximum Strength
Stratix and Stratix GX: 12 mA
2.5-V APEX II: 16 mA
Cyclone: 16 mA
Mercury: 16 mA
Stratix and Stratix GX: 16 mA
LVCMOS APEX II: 24 mA
Cyclone: 12 mA
Mercury: 24 mA
Stratix and Stratix GX: 24 mA
LVTTL APEX II: 24 mA
Cyclone: 12 mA
Mercury: 24 mA
Stratix and Stratix GX: 24 mA

NOTE For more information on device specific drive strengths and defaults, refer to individual device family data sheets, which are available from the Literature section of the Altera® web site.

This option is ignored if it is applied to anything other than an output or bidirectional pin. This option is available for APEX II, Cyclone, Mercury, Stratix, and Stratix GX devices.
