Glossary

clique

A group of logic functions defined as a single, named unit. The Compiler attempts to keep clique members together when it fits the project. A clique is a resource assignment groups a block of logic functions together in a single, named unit. A clique assignment allows you to group all logic on a speed-critical path, thus improving performance.

NOTE You cannot assign pins to a clique.

If possible, all clique members are assigned to the same Logic Array Block (LAB).

You can assign a logic function to a clique name in the Assignment Organizer dialog box (Assignment menu).

Clique assignments are less restrictive than local routing assignments because clique assignments allow the Compiler to place cliqued logic functions farther apart if necessary to achieve a fit; whereas, local routing assignments require a destination node to be located in the same LAB as the source node or in an LAB adjacent to the source node.
