You can continue undoing or redoing edits until you close and reopen the file.
You cannot undo or redo some actions, such as scrolling, moving the pointer, or saving a file. When you perform such actions, the Undo or Redo commands (Edit menu) are unavailable.
In the Text Editor, you can replace all instances of a text string with another text string by clicking Replace All in the Replace dialog box, closing the dialog box, and undoing the replacements by choosing the Undo command. However, when you choose the Undo command, it does not undo all the replacements at one time. Instead, the Undo command reverses the edit to only the last text string replaced by Replace All. To undo all the replacements implemented by Replace All, you must continue to choose the Undo command until all the individual replacements are reversed. Similarly, when you try to redo the edits implemented by Replace All and then undone, you must continue to choose the Redo command until all the individual undone edits have been reversed.
