Welcome to the Actel Digital Library CD-ROM

The Digital Library CD-ROM provides you with electronic 
versions of the Actel Data Book, Application Notes, and 
other files to allow you to browse through the information
conveniently and easily.

This readme contains information about how to install the 
software necessary to use the CD-ROM and information about
using the CD.

What You Need to Use This CD-ROM

The information on this CD is intended to be viewed with an
HTML browser and Adobe Acrobat 3.01 or later with the search 
plug-in. If you do not have an HTML browser or Adobe Acrobat, 
you can install them from this CD.

To install Adobe Acrobat:

1. Go to the /acrobat directory on the CD-ROM, then the 
   directory of the appropriate version according to your 
   operating system.
2. Install Adobe Acrobat. Windows users can double click the
   executable file in the directory and follow the
   instructions on the screen.

   UNIX users must uncompress and untar the file, then follow
   the installation instructions in the text file.

You can also visit the Adobe Web site (http://www.adobe.com)
for the files and installation instructions.

To install Netscape:

1. Go to the /netscape directory on the CD-ROM, then
   the directory of the appropriate version according to
   your operating system
2. Install the HTML browser. Windows users can double click
   the executable file in the directory and follow the
   instructions on the screen. 

   UNIX users must first uncompress then untar the file.
   Run the Bourne shell script called "ns-install."

If you do not wish to use the "ns-install" script or want 
to perform a custom installation, refer to the 
"README.install" file. You can also visit the Netscape 
Web site (http://www.netscape.com) for the files and 
installation instructions.

To install Internet Explorer:

1. Go to the /ie directory on the CD-ROM, then the directory 
   of the appropriate version according to your operating
   system
2. Double click the executable file in the directory.

You can also visit the Microsoft Web site 
(http://www.microsoft.com) for the files and installation 
instructions.

How to Use This CD-ROM

To access the main menu, double click the "start.htm" file at 
the root level of the CD-ROM.  From here, you can browse the
main sections of the CD-ROM. The majority of documents have 
been provided as PDFs and will open in your HTML browser when
you click on them.

If you want to search all of the PDFs on the CD-ROM, you must
open Acrobat Reader as a stand-alone application. You can then
select the search index called "Index.pdx" included on this 
CD-ROM. Refer to the "Acrobat On-Line Guide" included with 
Reader for additional information about using the search function
